The dew-spotted red plumeria flowers popping up on the tree in my front yard is a sign: Summer is close. Brighter mornings, longer days, graduations, travels, campfires, and beach days. Lots of beach days, please. After my interview with Sherri and Barbara of the Surfrider Foundation in our Spring Issue, my beach bag will now include gardening shears to cut derelict fishing nets, and an extra bag to collect trash that may otherwise end up in the belly of a starving seabird. I’ll pack the same if I’m camping in the sand this summer too.
Speaking of camping, have you sent us your camping story for our upcoming Summer Issue? You have until Saturday, May 5th at Midnight. It will only take a few minutes and a few hundred words (300 max) for your funny/scary/serene/wild/magical experience to be published among the others. To submit your story, click here: http://kauaipurpleinc.com/?p=369
